There is no better time than the present to spruce up your bathroom.
New colors are a great way to start the new year. Given the amount of time we spend in our bathrooms, I guarantee you will be happy you did. The best part is that it only takes 5 steps.
For all of you hard working women and men who are wondering if you have time, I have an alternative approach for you. If you have a busy schedule, make it a peaceful weekend project. Spread it out over a month by taking one step each week. Having a weekly task to focus on can be therapeutic and something to look forward to on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
I – Start by decluttering your bathroom.
It’s time to part with all of the things you don’t need. That includes all the bottles and tubes of stuff you will never use. Grab a recycle bin and bag for all your old towels. Know that it is totally fine if this takes more than a day. I know that purging can be exhausting, so take your time.
II – Think about and select your new color scheme.
What colors are you getting rid of? The new colors should give your bathroom a completely different look and feel. Take your time and narrow it down to at around 2 complementary colors.
III – Choose the 3 anchor items for your bathroom.
What are those? Well, they are your shower curtain, towels, and rugs. I fell in love with the Izet Honeycomb Shower Curtain. This piece made the process of picking the other two super easy. Here’s a tip: if you choose a multicolored shower curtain, your rugs and towel should be solid simple colors. If you choose a solid color for your shower curtain, the rug and towels can be more colorful. Although listen, you can never go wrong with white, especially with towels.
For towels, these Turkish Cotton 800-Gram Blush Bath Towels were the only option because it was love at first touch. And check out the Plum towels…you’re not ready.
Now, rugs are a piece of cake when you shop at Crate & Barrel. They have amazing colors (some are reversible which is a gift). I’m loving this Crosley White Reversible Bath Rug 2’x5′ – it’s unexpectedly long, which is incredible when you want to cover more floor space.
IV – Find a beautiful investment piece for organization.
If you have the space, I highly recommend a Banya White Bath Tower. This will help your bathroom remain decluttered. Displaying the things you love and use, will help you avoid tossing things into the drawer of no return. This bath tower has room for towels and products. I used the sedona honey bath accessories and a set of glass canisters for my daily products.
V – Use plants to add color and mirrors to add light.
Plants liven up any space. Something similar to the hanging vine pictured can be used to drape across the top of your new bath tower. Also, don’t be afraid to put flowers in your bathroom. When you have time, pick up a small bouquet or more of a statement piece. It’s a great way to bring the outdoors in and keep your bathroom fresh and inviting. Next to your bouquet, try the Contrell Round Brass Mirror or a glass vanity tray to add light.
We spend a lot of time in our bathrooms. After the bedroom, it’s the first and last part of our homes we see each day. So, treat yourself and refresh your bathroom!
