In December I co-hosted a beautiful winter Secret Supper at The Colony in Saint Johns, Oregon alongside my co-hosts Eva and Danielle . A heartfelt thank you to our volunteers Sofia, Alba, Stephanie, Jeanette, Gwen, and Megan, and all of our sponsors who you can see more about below!
This Supper was a little extra special to my own heart as it was inspired in part by my travels to Scandinavia in the past year. We pulled in elements of Scandinavian design and the menu that Mona and Jaret of Tournant crafted with this culture in mind was exquisite! This was our second indoor Supper and being that the event was held during one of the darkest months of the year in the PNW, it was challenging to capture the event in it’s entirety due to the lack of light, but nonetheless, I have a lovely collection of images to share with you! The space couldn’t have been more perfect with large, expansive windows that provided for the perfect, warm winter setting indoors.
And just wait until you see this menu, I mean, whole roast cauliflower with rye berries, mushrooms, cabbage, toasted caraway and dill aquavit-cured salmon grilled over hot coals on charred cedar planks?! The food was incredible yet again, but I think we reached new heights for this supper in particular, both in presentation and taste. I was thrilled to craft the dessert for this Supper, and this Nordic almond cake with black currant, rhubarb & rose jam was loved by many! We loved partnering with Bull in China again who crafted 2 super delicious drinks like a traditional Winter Glogg made with House Spirits Krogstad Aquavit and all sorts of winter spices! You can check out the recipe here, which I’d highly recommend making it for your next party!
