Just a few weeks ago as the holidays set in, a group of us stole away to the mountains and settled into a gorgeous lodge on an old Christmas tree farm for our Winter Workshop. I co hosted an all day food styling + photography workshop alongside Eva Kosmas Flores and Stacey Clark. We had a marvelous group come together, many of who flew in from around the country and even as far as overseas in Berlin to join us for the most magical day.
Eva started off by teaching on photography, Stacy following with teaching on styling. I finished the sessions with talking about branding, social media, and working with sponsors. In between sessions we did a practical hands on styling sessions creating 3 different scenes, and then also enjoyed a long table lunch prepared by Mona and Jaret of Foster’s Craft Cooking.
The food- was just absolutely incredible all day long! At lunch we enjoyed whole roasted cauliflower with an Oregon hazelnut romanesco, a treviso & parsley leaf salad with shaved celery, manchego, and a sherry vinaigrette, and a clam, chorizo, and white bean stew that was prepared over an open fire outside.
Speaking of incredible food, I’m so pleased to announce that ticket sales have opened for the 2016 Secret Supper seasonal gatherings! You can check it all out on our brand new site at this link. On here you’ll find our favorite images from past events and information for all upcoming events, dates provided for the entire year. We are also offering a food+wine pairing class prior to the dinner event- this is a perfect way to extend the experience and meet guests who might be attending the dinner before everyone arrives! Sommelier Danielle Firle will guide you through tasting Northwest regional wines along with savory seasonal fare and it’s something you won’t want to miss.

After the workshop ended late afternoon, we transformed the space again to prepare for our evening event; a winter gathering. You can see the full menu below to get a sense of how incredibly delicious it was! It was hard to shoot some of the dinner items as we lost our daylight by evening, but there’s a few shots on Eva’s recap showcasing some of the ingredients/dishes that were served later in the evening.
A huge thanks also goes out to Danielle, Zhanna, Colleen, Sarah, Renae, and Verena for helping us put this all together by lending countless hours, and to all of our guests for joining us both for the workshop day event and then again for the evening gathering! A huge thank you also to all of our sponsors listed below who sponsored our event by providing incredible hand crafted items to make this gathering possible.
