Beautiful Christmas Decor with West Elm

There are many ways to approach holiday and tree decoration, and I’m here to make sure you have options : ). Preferences can be based on taste, the size of a living room, or the limited amount of time in a day.

With that in mind, I am sharing a holiday decor approach for that inspired by all the coziness we all want to feel. It is “simply beautiful”, will work for any space, does not require a lot of time, – and – features one of my favorite brands, West Elm!

The “less is more” decor brings a chic element to the holidays. It is less about the entire room and more about creating a space with intention. This example creates a space that becomes a focal point. Your eyes will immediately be drawn to it and you instantly have the perfect spot to entertain.

Part I – Corners & Windows

The corner of your living room with the most light is the best place to start. The natural light of a window (during the day and at night) is the perfect background. You don’t need a lot of space for this look, because the goal is for the decor to have an intimate feel. So it’s ok to have your couch or a chair close to the window where you will place the tree.

Don’t feel like you need to get rid of everything in this corner. Below, I will explain how your furniture can be an extension of the tree.

Part II – Colors &  Layering

Strings of twinkle lights are one of the most important parts of keeping things simple and cozy. They are an understated yet beautiful key to this look and feel. I prefer draping these LED String Lights on and around the tree.

To elevate the look, carefully choose the color of the ornaments and decorations that will be layered. Remember, less is more. But you can be creative and go for non-traditional holiday colors. For instance, I went with pink, orange, and gold. The ornaments and colors stand out more because you use less of them.

The tree topper should make a statement. One of my favorites is this Kraft + Glitter Gem Starburst Tree Topper.

Part III – Stockings & Gifts

You don’t need a mantle to hang stockings. A cabinet works perfectly. Just move it next to your tree. Then, all you need is one of your LED String Lights with Kraft + Glitter Garland and stockings, like these Brushed Tips Faux Fur Stockings!

Now, this is where your furniture comes in. Gifts don’t have to be under a tree. Use your couch or a beautiful side chair  for gifts as well. This Luxe Chenille Throw is soft and nice to lay on to separate the gifts from where your guests can sit. This extends the look and creates space for you to sit on the floor in front of your masterpiece.

If you prefer chairs, this Auburn Chair is excellent and ideal for small spaces if you have one.

When you are done decorating, kick back and enjoy cocktails served in these  Moscow Mule Mugs. You deserve it 😉
