Exploring Zürich, Switzerland

I have always wanted to visit Switzerland.

If you asked me why, I’m not sure I could place it. Perhaps it’s because of how dreamy the Swiss Alps have always sounded. Likely tugs on my Montana girl heart for all those beautiful mountains, and of course – the history of such a beautiful country.

When Visit Zürich invited me to come and promote the city as a foodie’s destination, I was thrilled! Zürich ended up being the best surprise. I found a stunning, culturally diverse city brimming with vibrance. It was incredibly refreshing. The Swiss have this sort of calm, cool vibe. The people are so kind and generous.

Walking through the different districts in the city was one of my favorite experiences. The city itself is certainly culturally diverse in more ways than one. From the modern West District to the historic Old Town, each brought it’s own experience.

I had an incredible time enjoying Food Zürich, an annual festival dedicated to celebrating the city’s rich food scene. It was clear that the city really came together to celebrate it’s culinary offerings. I truly do not think I have ever experienced such a vibrant food scene. I can’t really describe it… everyone fully embraced the food culture, coming out of the woodwork to feast and drink together. It was so inspiring!

I could go on, but I will let the photos continue to tell the story. I narrowed my favorites down to my top 5 – it was a hard choice! No matter what sort of experience you want, Zürich has it for you. Three days was certainly not enough.

I hope you can take your own trip soon!

COFFEE

Grüngasse 4, 8004 Zürich, Switzerland

Loved this vibrant coffee shop. It was my favorite in the city and bonus – it’s in a fantastic area for exploring. I recommend picking up coffee to go and checking out all the local shops in the neighborhood. They serve Stoll Coffee, a local roaster. And make sure to grab their in-house made rhubarb soda!

25hours Hotel Zürich Langstrasse

Langstrasse 150, 8004 Zürich, Switzerland

A color- forward hotel in a hip neighborhood just minutes from the main Zürich train station. A favorite feature is that they have loaner bikes at the hotel!
Both the chic Middle Eastern restaurant and a cozy bar in the lobby was next level. Seriously was an impressive stay.

The Artisan – Kitchen & Urban Garden

Nordbrücke 4, 8037 Zürich, Switzerland

The Artisan is an absolutely beautiful restaurant with an exciting menu! They offer indoor seating with greenery and hanging lights. Or you can dine outside in the urban garden under shade. I ordered the carrot and fennel soup and paired it with a fresh arugula salad with chickpeas mint orange pomegranate. Perfect with a glass of wine!

Making Things

Grüngasse 20, 8004 Zürich, Switzerland

Local boutique offering beautiful jewelry, apparel, shoes and various accessories. Plus – it’s nearby COFFEE so makes for the perfect outing with a tasty drink in hand.

Food Zürich

The Food Zürich festival happens annually! It’s an incredible way that the city comes together and showcases it’s best, catering to foodie’s passion for the craft. This year, the festival offered 10 days with 150 events! It was totally worth the trip – I would definitely recommend it.

There are many activities and events to choose from. One of my favorites was a night out to explore some of the city’s best food destinations in the West District of Zürich.
