New York City, I Love You | Foodie’s Weekend Escape Part III

Last November, I headed out for Part III with Alaska Airlines for a Foodie’s Weekend Escape to New York City!

My direct PDX – JFK flight was definitely convenient. Just the way I like to travel. If you haven’t seen my Part II recap, check it out here! Detroit rocked my world.

I’ve spent a fair bit of time in New York City, but this trip was a whole new experience. I checked out new areas of the city and stunning places in order to share the best possible experience I could with you! Recommending my top 5 favorites below. It was definitely a hard choice. Let me know what you think and which one you want to check out first on your next trip!

Lastly, this savory breakfast bowl with turmeric poached eggs was developed after returning home to my studio from the inspiration I experienced at De Maria. So good! Hope you can make it soon : ) .

Brunch: De Maria

De Maria – I don’t even know where to start. First off, let me clarify. De Maria doesn’t just serve “avocado toast”. This is avocado toast on a whole other level. Every bite left me speechless.
And – have you ever heard of lavender cured salmon? All my days…. I’m completely ruined for this.

On the menu:

Avocado Toast – avocado, lavender cured salmon, honey egg, tarragon tahini

– The combination of flavors and textures was life changing.

Autumn Dragon Bowl: coconut grains, turmeric-poached egg, autumn veggies, heirloom beans, tarragon tahini

-Just as an autumn dish should be- warm, rich yet warm in flavor and the most beautiful complimenting taste of coconut.

Chili Turmeric Mushroom Broth: oat milk foam, herbs

-Silky smooth. The perfect hint of spice. The addition of fresh herbs add the perfect crunch.

Lunch: abcV

Walking into abc carpet & home was an overwhelming, beautiful experience. Cannot believe it took me this long to make it in! I felt as though I was transported into a vibrant, experiential world revolving around highly curated products sourced from all over the globe. I honestly have never felt anything quite like it – n simply walking into a space.

Next to the store was AbcV. It was certainly an experience all on it’s own. The simplistic elegance of the space had me in over my head with design happiness. Deciding what to order off the menu was a feat all it’s own.  Do me a favor- just go : ) .

On the menu:

Green Chickpea Hummus: thai basil, crudité
-Totally refreshing. How come this is the first time I’ve tried green hummus? Brilliant.

Whole Roasted Cauliflower: turmeric-tahini, pomegranate seeds
-Warm, melt in your mouth texture, topped with a tangy dressing and crisp pomegranate seeds. Perfection.

Lunch – 2 (bonus!) : Brodo Broth Shop

Let’s just say I want bone broth everyday . For the rest of my life.

On the menu:

Tom Yum: chicken broth, chili oil, coconut milk, lime, curry spice blend, grass fed ghee

Deeply Rooted: hearth broth – signature broth with organic chicken, turkey, veggies, 100% grass fed beef

Carrot + Brrrodo: chicken broth blended with organic carrots and fennel with fresh turmeric, lemon and ginger juice

Explore: Rockefeller Center + MOMA

A trip to New York City is definitely not complete without taking in the epic views. The perfect afternoon package: MOMA -Modern Art Museum- + going to the top of the Rockefeller. Just incredible. It’s all just truly something else.

Dinner: City Kitchen

Not sure what you’re in the mood for? That’s when you hit up the city’s best food market. City Kitchen is right in the heart of Time’s Square. Choose from things like ramen, sushi, burgers… donuts?! Yes to ALL.

Dessert: Cha Cha Matcha

Where’s all my matcha lovers?! Had to check out all the rage via Chalk Board Mag’s NYC matcha guide and see what all the excitement was about. You should have seen my face when the barista handed me a palm tree etched in my drink. Photo session perfection – I was happy.

On the menu:

Soft serve matcha
-Intensely “matcha” but in the best way. Creamy, smooth, light.

Seasonal ginger and turmeric matcha with macadamia milk
-Tried it hot and iced. Two totally different experiences! The iced was a win for me.
