Last month I had the privilege to co-host a food styling and photography workshop alongside a wonderful friend, Eva Kosmas Flores. This was our first event together here in Portland and wow was it a success! We had several students, most of which flew in from across the country or drove to spend a day with us. It was an honor and privilege to hang out with such talented, fellow food bloggers, stylists and photographers. Always so amazing to spend time with people who are passionate about similar things!

There are so many stunning images to share, so much so that I decided to do a two part series. Make sure to check out part 2 which will feature the other half of the photo collection! Also, definitely make sure to check out Eva’s post on our workshop by visiting her blog here. You can also check out a beautiful write up of the event by our special guests from Woven Magazine .

Our guests arrived first thing in the morning and enjoyed a beautiful spread provided by our amazing sponsors. We had a selection of pastries from Roman Candle, donuts by Blue Star Donuts, cold brew from Stumptown Coffee, hot tea from Steven Smith Tea and bowls of fresh fruit from New Seasons.

The class started out with teaching on the technical side of cameras and the world of photography, then moving into tips and techniques on styling. We then spent time together working in staging areas, styling and shooting collectively.

After the morning passed, we gathered for a sit down lunch (after shooting the gorgeous spread of course), and I cannot even begin to tell you how gorgeous the table was. A huge thank you to our table sponsors: Felt & Fat provided the most stunning hand crafted ceramic collection, consisting of their 9.5″ dinner plates and nesting bowls in various finishes. It was a perfect, cohesive mixed collection, lets just say it felt like Christmas morning when the boxes arrived!.

They also provided several various types of serving platters and bowls like some large platters in the marble series collection, a few groggy wares, and more. Which by the way, Felt + Fat has a Kickstarter running that will last through May 20th. If you’d like to support their amazing vision and get some great product for your kitchen or styling needs, make sure to check out this post where I featured their story. In this post you can get more info on their Kickstarter, or, you can check it out for yourself here.

In addition to Felt + Fat, The Modern Proper supplied us with gorgeous linen napkins for each guest. They were a beautiful grey color and were the extra large napkin size- the best. I love how we were able to use these for styling as well during the class- they’re perfect for so many uses.

Oblation Papers & Press provided custom, letter press menus for each setting. They were beautifully complex and simple all at the same time! I wanted to make sure you are able to see the incredibly delicious food we ate, so here I’ve copied the menu! Yum. I’m still dreaming of all the amazing food we had.

A big thanks to Parcel PDX who supplied us with seriously, the most gorgeous arrangement of florals. We lavishly placed them everywhere – we used them for our centerpiece, had a few vases here and there throughout the venue, and had extra for styling for our class. Just perfection, I tell you.

This day couldn’t have been possible without our lovely interns, Sasha and Amanda! They showed up early and stayed late, assisting in the kitchen and helping with whatever was needed. A lovely, massive thanks to each of these ladies for their generosity in partnering with us!

Make sure to check back next week for part two with the second set of images from our time together! It’s not one to miss.
